Denise Sidhu, Partner & Director, Kernel Capital.
Kernel Capital is pleased to advise the appointment of our colleague Denise Sidhu to the National Competitiveness and Productivity Council by Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment, Peter Burke.
Over the next 3 years, Denise’s focus will be to collaborate with fellow council members to enhance productivity, strengthen competitiveness and contribute to advancing policies and initiatives that drive sustainable growth and innovation across our economy.
“I am honoured to join the National Competitiveness and Productivity Council (“NCPC”) at a time when Ireland is taking decisive steps to strengthen its economic resilience and future-proof its competitiveness. The publication of the Action Plan on Competitiveness and Productivity in September 2025 represents a timely and strategic response to the challenges and opportunities facing Ireland as a small, open economy. It provides a clear framework to strengthen our national resilience, enhance the infrastructure that underpins enterprise growth, and accelerate innovation-led, sustainable development. I look forward to contributing to its implementation as a member of the NCPC.”

Established by the Government in 1997, the Council reports to the Taoiseach and the Government, through the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment on key competitiveness issues facing the Irish economy and offers recommendations on policy actions required to enhance Ireland’s competitive position.
In 2018, in accordance with the European Council recommendation on the establishment of National Productivity Boards in euro area countries, the Government designated the National Competitiveness and Productivity Council as the body responsible for analysing developments and policies in the field of productivity and competitiveness in Ireland.
