Owen Murphy
Owen Murphy joined Kernel Capital as a Senior Advisor in 2014. He is one of Ireland's leading venture capitalists, active in the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and mainland UK. Prior to this appointment he worked with Kernel Capital on a number of transactions and is currently an Independent Director of Belfast based Silform Limited and Chairman of Dublin based Teamer, both portfolio companies of the Bank of Ireland Kernel Capital Venture Funds. Owen is an active member of the Kernel Capital team and is engaged across all aspects of the business - in deal sourcing, deal evaluation and the growth and development of Fund investees and our Fund portfolio's.

Owen is Chairman of KKR European Credit Investment Funds plc, a multi-fund listed investment company with over €1bn in assets and is a director of and adviser to a number of other private companies. He co-founded ACT Venture Capital in 1994 and remained with the firm until 2009. Prior to ACT Venture Capital, he was a Director of AIB Venture Capital. He has raised and managed over €300m in venture capital funding and has completed over 100 corporate transactions, tech and non tech, public and private. Transactions include the buyout of SDC Trailers (largest trailer manufacturer in the UK), the syndicated buy-out of Belfast International Airport, the buyout of Silicon and Software Systems, the spin-out, development and funding of Meridio and subsequent sale to Autonomy plc., the funding and development of ACRA Control and subsequent sale to Curtiss Wright plc.

Owen is a qualified Chartered Accountant, having trained with PWC with a particular focus on corporate recovery/insolvency.
