New York State Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli was in Dublin on Wednesday July 12th to meet with Kernel Capital and a number of portfolio companies of the Bank of Ireland Kernel Capital Venture Funds. The Comptroller manages the State’s estimated $192 billion pension fund, audits the spending practices of all NY State agencies and local governments, and approves billions in State contracts and spending. The New York State Common Retirement Fund through its Washington based fund manager ’57 Stars’ is an investor in the Bank of Ireland Kernel Capital Growth Fund (NI). Thomas P. DiNapoli, a Democrat, has been New York State Comptroller since 2007. On Tuesday Comptroller DiNapoli received an honorary doctorate from the University of Ulster recognizing both investments in Northern Ireland and Comptroller DiNapoli’s unwavering support for the Irish peace process.

The Bank of Ireland Kernel Capital Growth Fund (NI) was designed to help SMEs in Northern Ireland to accelerate their growth. Invest Northern Ireland has committed £15 million of funding to this fund which is part financed by the European Regional Development Fund under the EU Investment for Growth and Jobs Programme 2014-2020.
